On the lower slopes of the Mount of Olives is a remarkable little private grove of very ancient olive trees, which Max negotiated our entrance into. Here there is a plaque reading “Roma a Gervsalemme.” This little grove is within sight of both the Dome of the Rock and the Golden Gate. While we were there we watched as two gardeners dug around one of the olive trees.
